Guysborough’s Shop Local campaign underway

On December 1, brightly coloured boxes appeared in many local Guysborough retailers heralding the start of another Guysborough and Area Board of Trade Shop Local campaign.

“We’re excited to bring our Shop Local campaign back again this year,” says Ann Marie Bagnall, chair of the Board and innkeeper at Seawind Landing Country Inn. “It is a great opportunity to get this important message out while at the same time thanking people for supporting our businesses throughout the year.”

“There are so many benefits to shopping local,” she continues, “Shopping locally means you are choosing to invest locally which means creating local jobs. It also means enabling local businesses to be able to reinvest back into their community through leadership of events like this year’s Guysborough Celebrates Canada 150. It’s even better for the environment with way less time spent on the road.”

This year’s Shop Local campaign runs from December 1 to December 15. For each visit to a participating retailer, visitors can enter for a chance to win one of three shopping sprees worth $500 in total redeemable at various Board member locations. Entry boxes can be found at one of our retail Board members: Your Independent Grocer, Big G’s restaurant, Cook’s Gas Bar and Café, Cook’s Tire Shop, Cutting Loose Hair Design and Esthetics, Days Gone by Bakery, Restaurant, Antiques and Gifts, Haliburton PharmaChoice, or Rose’s Garden of Gifts.

The draw will be made on December 18 and our three lucky winners announced on 101.5 The Hawk.
