Sheet Harbour search continues
RCMP still looking for Jason Young
SHEET HARBOUR - An RCMP search for 31-year-old Jason Kenneth Young that began on Friday, June 30 was still underway late Tuesday afternoon.
Young, a Sheet Harbour resident, allegedly refused to stop his vehicle after being flagged down by the RCMP for unspecified "motor vehicle infractions" at about 6:45 pm on June 30.
The RCMP alleges Young drove for 17 kilometres down Lake Road after being ordered to stop. He then disappeared into the woods on foot.
On Sunday, July 2 Halifax RCMP brought in its Police Dog Services and enlisted the assistance of the Department of Natural Resources and the Sheet Harbour Ground Search and Rescue unit in a fruitless attempt to locate Young.
An RCMP spokesman told The Journal that Young is not wanted on any other matters. An RCMP press release described Young as "5'8", 160 lbs with brown hair, green eyes, and was last seen wearing a red t-shirt, blue jeans and work boots."
The press release said Young has known connections in the Pictou County area, Digby Neck area, New Brunswick and Labrador.
The RCMP has contacted Young's family and associates, who said they have not seen him since June 30.
Anyone with information about Young's whereabouts is asked to contact their local RCMP detachment or Crime Stoppers on 1-800-222-8477.
