New premier good news for riding - Chisholm
HALIFAX - Guysborough - Port Hawkesbury MLA Ronnie Chisholm couldn't control his enthusiasm as the results of the Progressive Conservative leadership vote came in at the Halifax Metro Centre on Saturday afternoon. Chisholm, a key member of Rodney MacDonald's leadership campaign team, was all smiles as the two ballots went in favour of the minister of Health Promotion and Tourism, and MLA from Inverness. The result of the weekend convention, he said, is good news for Guysborough - Sheet Harbour and all of Nova Scotia.
"We've got a guy who's young and smart and he's got the fire in his belly," said Chisholm after the convention.
Chisholm noted that MacDonald came to Guysborough - Sheet Harbour several times over the past six years, including visits to Sherbrooke Village and the African Heritage Friendship Centre in Guysborough.
"He's been very accessible and supportive and committed to progress in the counties of the Strait Area," said Chisholm.
MacDonald's campaign manager, Irene MacLeod of Antigonish, said Chisholm played an important role in the winning campaign. "Ronnie was one of the hardest-working caucus members on a day-to-day basis in support of the campaign," she told The Journal Tuesday. "He was willing to do whatever was asked of him, whether it was to travel or make calls, whatever the campaign needed of him. He was able to extend the level of work he does for his constituency to a province-wide campaign."
